All of our programming is locally originated, save for the world wide nationally recognized CBS Radio Newscasts at the top of each hour. All of our on-air talent lives in this area. Our staff shops, dines, banks, pays taxes, and supports local civic and charitable organizations. Their children attend schools here. Range of tenure: 2-35 years.
Our music targets the 30+ age group, keenly aware that the median age of people living in Aroostook and Victoria (NB) counties is 45+ and in Madawaska county (NB) it is 47+. We mix music from the 60s to today with an emphasis on the softer hits of the 70s, 80s, and early 90s.
Our local news effort is what separates us from the others. Since our first day on the air, Channel X Radio has presented local newscasts seven days a week with local award-winning content.
We have expanded our local news coverage over the years, now offering eight 6-minute newscasts daily at 5:30AM, 6:30AM, 7:30AM, 8:30AM, 11:30AM, 4:30PM, 5:30PM, and 9:30PM.
We also present four-minute local “Fastcasts” at 10:30AM and 2:30PM.
We consider this service vital inasmuch as there is no daily newspaper in Aroostook, Madawaska or Victoria counties and only one commercial television station. One would need to be "parked" and visiting at least 20 "professional (updated) websites" hourly, to come close to the content we present live.
